Youths 9 and older can participate in Upper Valley
Aquatic Center ORGANIZED PROGRAMS without parental
supervision. Youths under 9 must be accompanied by
a MEMBER or PAYING PATRON 18 years or older.
Children 14 years and under must be supervised at all
times by a MEMBER or PAYING PARENT, GUARDIAN,
or CHAPERONE 18 years or older (the only exception is if
the child is participating in an ORGANIZED PROGRAM).
The Fitness Center is available to everyone 16 years and older. 14 and 15 year olds will be granted admission to the
Fitness Center ONLY after completion of the Youth
Fitness Orientation with UVAC personal trainer or Fitness
Monitor. 12 & 13 year olds will be granted admission
to the Fitness Center with their PARENT or GUARDIAN
ONLY after both the adult & child complete the Youth
Fitness Orientation with UVAC personal trainer or Fitness
Monitor. 12 & 13 year olds will need to be accompanied
by a parent for every visit.
- No Food Or Drink May Be Brought
Into Upper Valley Aquatic Center.
- All flotation devices must be approved by United States Coast Guard
- Smoking and smokeless tobacco are prohibited on any Upper-Valley Aquatic Center property (This includes all outside property).
- Weapons are forbidden on Upper Valley Aquatic Center property.
- Possession of illegal drugs and alcoholic beverages are prohibited on Upper Valley Aquatic Center property.
- Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the facility. Food and beverages are not allowed on the pool deck or in the dry land areas. Water and sports drinks, however, are permitted in the facility and on the pool deck.
- Harassment is not tolerated by the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. The term “harassment” includes but is not limited to slurs, jokes and other verbal, graphic, or physical contact relating to an individual’s race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, age or handicap. “Harassment” also includes sexual favors, unwelcoming or offensive touching and other verbal, graphic or physical conduct of sexual nature.
- Foul and abusive language is unacceptable.
- Abuse and/or misuse of Upper Valley Aquatic Center property and equipment is unacceptable. Violators will be held financially responsible for damages and losses. Violators will be asked to leave the premises and their actions may result in entry privileges being suspended or revoked.
- No bare feet allowed outside of locker rooms or swimming pool areas with the exception of organized classes.
- Lockers are for day use only. Lockers which are not cleared at the end of the day will have the lock cut off and all items will be removed and bagged for pick-up. There will be a two (2) week holding period at which time all items found will be sent to an establishment which collects and resells used merchandise.
- Members and guests are fully responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen or damaged at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. Books, bags, coats and personal items should be kept in a locker and are not allowed in activity areas. Members and guests are responsible for bringing their own lock when using lockers.
- Members and guests may not display actions that the Upper Valley Aquatic Center staff deem unsportsmanlike or rude.
- Misuse, moving or altering any portion of the Upper Valley Aquatic Center property is prohibited.
- Persons with infectious diseases are prohibited from using the facility. Open wounds must be covered. No one with an open wound will be allowed in the swimming and leisure pools.
- All injuries, no matter how slight, must be reported to the Upper Valley Aquatic Center staff.
- No child over the age of six (6) may be brought into the adult locker rooms of the opposite sex. The Upper Valley Aquatic Center has provided a family changing room in the activities/multi-purpose room for your convenience when faced with this situation.
- For your convenience, a manager is on duty at all times. Any questions regarding the facilities or programs can be directed to the manager.
- All members must show their membership card at the Welcome Desk at every visit.
- All guests must register at the Welcome Desk before using any portion of the facility.
- The activities/multi-purpose room is for use only by pre-approved persons.
- A telephone is available in the lobby for public use. All other phones are reserved for Upper Valley Aquatic Center business purposes.
- Cell phone use is limited to the lobby area only. Cell phones with cameras are not allowed in the locker room or in any workout area.
- Skateboards, rollerblades and scooters are not allowed to be used anywhere on Upper Valley Aquatic Center property.
- Members and guests shall abide by the rules and regulations of the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. People found in violation of these rules may have their Upper Valley Aquatic Center privileges suspended or revoked.
Upper Valley Aquatic Center guests are more likely to feel comfortable when they are among other guests that use the center for the same purposes. In general, certain age groups attend at certain times.
- The morning is a favorite time for adults seeking
a quiet time to work out in the fitness areas,
participate in group fitness classes, and masters swimming, or swim laps.
- Some of the best times for families are
Saturday and Sunday in the late afternoons
and early evenings.
- Weekdays are great times for mothers and fathers with young children.
- For older children and teens, Friday and
Saturday nights seem to be a favorite time.
Upper Valley Aquatic Center is everyone's facility.
No one likes a mess or inconsiderate behavior, especially when it gets in the way of a good time. Please be
courteous to other guests, and please clean up after
yourself if necessary. Courteous behavior makes it
possible for everyone to have a good time.
By following these guidelines, we are confident that you will find your Upper Valley Aquatic Center visit to be everything that you hoped it would be!
In severe weather, members and guests must exit the pool areas. Upper Valley Aquatic Center staff will decide on a case-by-case basis when the pool is deemed unsafe. For the safety of the members and guests, Upper Valley Aquatic Center staff reserves the right to close the pools when severe weather conditions exist.
- Only vehicles with displayed legal handicap parking identification shall park in designated handicap parking spaces.
- No parking of motorized vehicles is allowed where there is prohibited signage, painted curb, or striped pavement.
- No motorized vehicles shall be parked or operated on sidewalks except low speed personal transporters (under 3 mph) and Upper Valley Aquatic Center maintenance and contractor vehicles.
- Special events utilizing the Upper Valley Aquatic Center facility may require other parking rules. Such rules will be posted and enforced.
- These rules apply to all members, guests, visitors, invitees, licensees, concessionaires, contractors and employees.
All members must show their membership card when they check in. All guests must register at the Welcome Desk.
Persons using exercise equipment do so entirely at their own risk. The Aquatic & Wellness Director is responsible for the operation of the Exercise Room. The following rules apply to the Exercise Room:
- All new members must have an orientation to the exercise room by a fitness staff member.
- A PAR-Q is used to ensure safe and appropriate exercise. Written medical consent may be required.
- Persons with known medical or physical conditions are advised to consult a physician prior to engaging in exercise activity. The Aquatic & Wellness Director has the authority to require any individual who does not appear to be fit to engage in an activity to stop that activity.
- Children under the age of 12 may not use the exercise equipment.
- Children ages 12 to 13 are required to attend a fitness orientation before they can use the equipment. Even then, they can only use the equipment with adult supervision.
- Appropriate fitness apparel is required including upper body garment (sports bras alone are not permitted) and proper closed toe athletic footwear.
- During peak times (when persons may be waiting to use equipment) the use of cardiovascular equipment will be subject to a time limitation.
- Food and beverages are not permitted in the Exercise Room with the exception of water and non-alcoholic sports drinks in sealed, plastic, capped beverage bottles.
- Members and guests must wipe equipment with a towel following each use. Portable equipment must be returned to its proper location.
- Please be courteous when working out. Exercise participants will be expected to re-rack weights being careful not to drop weights, replace any equipment used and share equipment as needed.
- The Upper Valley Aquatic Center provides audio and visual equipment for enjoyment by all members and guests. Programs will be set by Upper Valley Aquatic Center staff to suit the interest of the majority. Portable stereo equipment is permitted only with the use of personal headphones.
- No towels will be provided for use in the Exercise Room.
Lockers are available to all Upper Valley Aquatic Center patrons on a daily basis only. You may choose to bring your own lock, or the Welcome Desk will have locks available for sale. Personal locks may not be left on lockers overnight. Each night the locker rooms will be checked, and any locks remaining will be removed.
UVAC recommends leaving valuables at home. However, if items are brought during your visit, we recommend
using a locker to store them safely.
The following guidelines have been put in place to
ensure that all members and guests are comfortable at Upper Valley Aquatic Center.
Children 6 and over accompanied by a parent of
the opposite sex must use the Family Changing
Room, located in the leisure pool area by the
Multi-Purpose Room.
Children 6 and over accompanied by a parent of the same sex should use the Youth Locker Rooms.
Children under the age of 6 may use either the Family Changing Room or the Adult Locker Rooms.
Lifeguards on duty shall enforce all pool rules and
have the authority to suspend pool privileges.
Members and guests must be 48 inches tall to use the slide, and parents are not allowed to accompany
children down the slide.
Sanitary Rules
- A cleansing shower should be taken before
entering the pools and before returning to the
pools after the use of the rest room in any way.
- Children 3 years of age and under must wear swim diapers. All other diapers are prohibited in all
Upper Valley Aquatic Center pools.
- A person with Band-Aids, blisters, cuts, rashes, stitches and/or communicable diseases is
prohibited from using all Upper Valley
Aquatic Center pools.
- All accidents, however minor, must be reported
to the lifeguard on duty.
- Smoking and outside food and drink are not
allowed in the facility. Glass containers are
prohibited. The use of any Upper Valley Aquatic Center pools while under the influence of alcohol or impairing drugs is prohibited.
Activity Rules
- Diving in shallow areas is prohibited.
- Non-swimming children or children 5 years of age and under must be accompanied in the water by a parent, guardian, or chaperone at all times, with the exception of classes.
- Chaperones must be at least 18 years of age.
- Children 14 years and under must be supervised at all times by a parent, guardian, or chaperone with the exception of classes.
- Swimsuits must be worn. Swimming in street
clothing such as cut-off sweat pants, jeans, T-shirts, etc. is prohibited.
- Leisure pool entry is permitted only at designated entry point ladders, stairs, and zero depth.
- Do not play on steps or ladders.
- Back flips, back jumps, and back dives are not
allowed, even in the deep end.
Equipment Rules
- Flotation devices are prohibited in all Upper Valley Aquatic Center pools except for properly fitted, Coast Guard-approved vests. These may be used
in shallow areas.
- Wearing an approved life jacket does not modify age restrictions that may apply.
- Lifeguard staff must approve all play
toys brought into the pool areas.
- All equipment provided is available for patron
use and enjoyment. Please use with caution and
at your own risk.
- Return any pool equipment to the storage areas after using.
- Upper Valley Aquatic Center is not responsible
for lost, damaged, or stolen items.
Upper Valley Aquatic Center strives to provide a
balance between open swimming, lap swimming, and programming. The schedule is subject to change each month: please pick up a "When to Swim Schedule" at
the Welcome Desk.
- Lane Designations We have designated lanes for SLOW, MEDIUM, and FAST swimmers. Choose a lane compatible with your speed, then notify the others you are joining them.
- Sharing Lanes Two swimmers must each take
one side of the lane. Three or more swimmers must circle swim.
Circle Swimming Swim on the right side of the lane leaving the center of the lane open for
passing. If you need to pass a fellow swimmer,
tap the person on their foot and then quickly pass in the middle on the lane, being cautious of
oncoming swimmers.
- Joining a Workout If there is a workout set in
progress, you may only join as part of the set.
- Speed Slower swimmers must yield to faster ones.
- Passing Pass on the left by tapping the swimmer
on the foot.
- Ages Lap swimming is for all ages as long as
you are swimming continuously!
- Ask Questions Ask the lifeguard for help if you would like to know how long workouts have been in progress or what lane fits you best!
Lap lanes may not be available for youth 15 years
and under during lap swimming hours.
Children — Any child not yet completely toilet trained must wear a special aquatic diaper in the pool. For your convenience, swim diapers are available for purchase at the welcome desk. Please do not change your child's diaper on the pool deck.
All Persons — All persons who wear a diaper must wear an aquatic diaper in the pool. Adult aquatic diapers are available for purchase from a variety of organizations. If you are concerned about incontinence and would like more information, please call toll-free 1.888.442.2297

- The Fitness Center is available to everyone 16 years of

- Shirts and closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.
No sandals. No sport bras. Long tanks are acceptable.
- Please check your shoes for dirt and rocks prior to
entering the Fitness Center.
- Please use the lockers for all personal items. UVAC
is not responsible for lost items.
- Sealed bottles or drink containers are welcome.
Food is not permitted.
- Cardio equipment has a 30-minute limit. Sign-in is
required. Management reserves the right to ask you
to exit the machine if you are not signed in.
- Please clean the equipment when finished. Spray
the cleaner onto the towel, NOT directly onto
the machine.
- Please return all dumbbells and weight plates
to the racks when finished.
- All personal training/fitness coaching sessions must be
with a UVAC Personal Trainer/fitness coach. Trainers/
coaches not employed by UVAC may not provide their
services at UVAC.
- If you use it, put it away.
Please take the time to re-rack your weights
when you are finished using them.
- If you make a mess, clean it up.
Once you have completed your workout,
please wipe down the cardio and weight training equipment, even if you do not sweat. Cleaning bottles and towels are available throughout the Fitness Center.
- Take turns.
If you are waiting for someone to get off the piece of equipment you want to use, ask the person if you can work in with them. This means you are asking to take turns, lifting while they rest
between sets.
- Follow the rules.
Be courteous to the other patrons by observing and using the cardio sign-in and usage limits posted in the Fitness Center.
- Share your toys.
Try to select a piece of cardio near a television that is already tuned to your viewing choice. If you wish to change stations, please ask a staff member to change the channel for you.
- Use inside voices.
Please don't share your music with everyone else by listening to music audio at such loud volume levels that members in the pool can hear you!
- Bodily functions can happen.
Understand that grunting and breathing heavily is a normal part of many people's exercise habits. It is a way for them to release pressure and stress.
- Put it where it belongs.
Please return attachments, clips, and other tools back to their storage spots. This makes it easier for other guests to find them.
- Please don't interrupt someone else.
Personal Trainers are on staff to assist you in
reaching your fitness potential and are available
by appointment. Please respect the trainer and don't interrupt them when they are with a client. Our Fitness Monitors will be happy to assist you with any questions you might have.
- Be courteous of others.
Please refrain from using your cellular phones while using a piece of equipment. This can be
distracting to other members and could be a
potential safety hazard for you.
