SWIM CHAMPS
EMPOWERING CHILDREN WITH ASTHMA THROUGH SWIMMING
Participants will become partners in the management of their own chronic disease
Swim CHAMPS is a community program which seeks to empower children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with asthma to become educated and confident partners in the management of their chronic disease through swimming. Using fun challenges in the pool as well as classroom sessions, the program will teach the children to know their limits and understand how their disease affects them, but not to be afraid of physical activity. The goal of the program is to empower children with asthma to become partners in the management of their own chronic disease. By understanding asthma, as well as the tools and strategies to manage it, children will gain important skills they can take with them for the rest of their lives.
If you are interested in enrolling in the program or enrolling a child in the program, please contact swimchamps@dartmouth.edu or call 603.209.1439 to receive information about the next available class dates, times, and locations.
SwimCHAMPS is brought to you by the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship of the U.S. Schweitzer Fellows Programs® and students from Dartmouth Medical School. The goal of the fellowships is to provide community service fellowships for graduate students in health-related professional fields.
