Lifeguard Certification Course

Certification Preparation: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/ AED for the Professional Rescuer

Course Summary:  The course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent accidents and provide care in cases of injury or sudden illness.  Instruction will focus on rescue techniques and proper usage of rescue equipment both in and out of the water. 

Course Prerequisites*: To be eligible to take the course, all participants must:

-Be 15 years of age

-Swim 300 yards continuously (100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breaststroke, 100 yards choice stroke)

-Swim 25 yards, surface dive 9 feet to retrieve a 10 pound weight, swim 25 yards back with the weight and exit the pool without a ladder within 1 minute, 40 seconds

Course Minimum**: 6 participants                  

Course Maximum: 10 participants

Saturday, April 17th        10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, April 18th          11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Monday, April 19th           3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, April 21st   3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Thursday, April 22nd       3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Session Two:

Tuesday, May 4th            7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Wednesday, May 5th      3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Thursday, May 6th           3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Friday, May 7th                 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 8th           2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (tentative)

Sunday, May 9th              12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Monday, May 10th            3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Session Three:

Friday, May 21st              3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

 *Course cost will be refunded if a participant fails to successfully complete prerequisites.

**Participants enrolled in the course will receive immediate refund and notification if there is less than the required number of individuals registered for the course.

***Please note that enrollment in the course does not guarantee certification.  Participants are responsible for passing the ARC Lifeguarding tests (administered on the last day of the program) in order to receive certification.  The course cost will not be refunded if a participant fails the lifeguard and/or CPR tests.

Registration for all course sessions will open Monday, April 5th and will continue until three days before the first scheduled session class.  Please visit the Upper Valley Aquatic Center Welcome Desk to enroll.
